After 1½ years of research, they purchased the Profitkey Job Shop Scheduling System.This allowed for the flexibility required to meet the rapidly changing customer demands.

Realizing the trend of customers to purchase products on a Just-in-Time basis, Arlington purchased 5 Matsuura 11 Pallet Horizontal Machining Cell with 37 pallets. "The whole reason that OEM's are going to JIT is to reduce inventory carrying costs. In order to remain competitive they need to be able to economically manufacture smaller lot sizes. The 11 pallet machines allow us to set up one job at a time, and leave it set up for the life of the job", says John Jay. This allows Arlington to change from one job to another within a half hour.
